Hey folks,

I know its a little late, but I've been swamped. I was hoping to get some ideas about a Xbox Live event on the weekend after ODST is released. I was thinking that the schedule should be a little more flexible than our previous MegaLAN. Also, Firefight will not have matchmaking, so you will only be able to play with friends or recent players, just like coop campaign. So here's my thoughts:

On Friday night (9/25), everyone that can should get online and have fun with Firefight. We already have a pretty regular crew on Friday nights, so you should have no shortage of folks to play with.

On Saturday (9/26), if possible, get some friends together for a mini-lan at your place. If that's not possible, jump online and find a group of 4 to run with. It's my understanding that Firefight will have scoring, so my thought is to give a prize to the team that posts the highest score at any point during the day. These details will have to be ironed out once we know more about Firefight's scoring.

Anyway, those are my thoughts open for your review. I have no idea what prizes would be, but we'll work it. Please let me know what you think.

I did a bit of research, and it appears that Firefight scoring will work like campaign scoring in H3. There will be a team score and an individual score. Scores will also be available on Bungie.net, just like H3 scores.

Here's my plan: the 4 person team with the highest score on Saturday, September 26th before midnight Eastern will win the yet-to-be-determined prize. While it is preferable that this team be at one location, it can also be over Xbox Live. A link to the game score on Bungie.net will need to be provided by Midnight on Sunday the 27th.

If you are planning to get some friends together that day or particpate over Xbox Live, post up and let us know.

Though I didn't get a chance to play Firefight last night, I have discovered that you can provide links to games just like other Halo games. You can also distribute your score over social networks like Twitter.

Anyway, to enter the contest you will need to post a link to your highest scored game of Firefight from Bungie.net. The game must be played this Saturday, September 26th, according the time and date on Bungie.net. The team with the highest score wins.

The winners will be contacted to get their mailing address. The prize (most likely WUWB t-shirts and other stuff) will be sent to you as soon as possible.

I would have love to play tonight but I'm going to be watching Tennessee try to beat Ohio (MAC conf, I think) in football tonight. It is raining like crazy!
