Default Making the jump...Windows 7

Made the jump last week to Windows 7 64-bit on a Dell D820. I will share the details of the jump later, but has anyone else taken the plunge??

Same here, smooth as glass. I had concerns with most of my apps working in the 64-bit environment, but everything is cool. Had one app that didn't work, but I am not allowed to really talk about that one. It's a third party app that doesn't work on 64 - bit systems and the vendor is not updating it to do so...GRRRR. The good news is I found a replacement.

The only problem I have had with 64bit W7 is that Firefox doesn't work (there is a working version, but it is not the latest version of FF and isn't official). Flash also doesn't have a 64bit version. For Flash stuff, I end up using the 32bit version of IE.

Everything else seems peachy.

Are there any benchmarks comparing 32 to 64 bit?

I went that direction more for the crazy memory limits. I have the enterprise version. So instead of the 4GB standard memory limit in 32-bit system, my limit is 192GB. I also wanted to build the OS itself to outlast the hardware that it is running on. So when I get a new notebook, I simply image it to the next system. To answer your question, I have not run any benchmarks on the system, I can say that I P2V'd my previous OS and I can run it in tandem without any serious headaches.
